„Der Große Gopnik“ // Zweisprachige Lesung von Viktor Jerofejew

Viktor Yerofeyev's epic novel "The Great Gopnik" is a brilliant picaresque of the rise of Putin: a redneck who not only reaches the highest echelons of power, but also stays there. Only someone could have made that up! But who? Viktor Yerofeyev, born in Moscow in 1947, became known worldwide for his novel "Moscow Beauty", which was published in 1989 and translated into 27 languages. He was expelled from the Writers' Union of the USSR in 1979. He writes for the New York Times Book Review, ZEIT, FAZ and WELT - a critical intellectual and one of the best-known contemporary Russian authors. His novel moves confidently and freely through time and space, allowing characters to appear and disappear, inventing things and exposing frauds. Yerofeyev ventures a literary explanation for what is happening today: How could it come to this? The reading will be held in German and Russian.
