At the new Vinylrausch #63 on Thursday, March 21 at 7:30 pm at the Sputnik-Kino am Südstern, you can finally listen to real songs again:
New Skin for the Old Ceremony (1974) by Leonard Cohen is full of wonderful melodies and thought-provoking lyrics. Our album of the month turns 50 this year and is still frighteningly topical.
On the Lambchop album Mr. M, released in 2012, Kurt Wagner also talks about a difficult subject, the death of his friend Vic Chesnutt. Wagner has something to say and is accompanied by eclectic strings.
Baxter Dury is the cool Nighthawk, who slips into different roles on The Night Chancers (2020) and whose spoken word vocals are embedded in an exciting mix of dragged-out beats, Italo pop and female choirs.
Vinylrausch pays tribute to music albums as works of art and plays them out loud as in a concert, in a dark movie theater, with an introduction and the song lyrics on the screen.
