Snowflakes swirl, snowballs fly through the air and when Tchaikovsky's Snowflake Waltz is played by the Oldenburg State Orchestra, it promises to be a very special winter and Christmas season. For the first time since 1996, "The Nutcracker" will be danced on the stage of the Great House.
The last presents are hurriedly bought at the Christmas market, preparations for Christmas Eve are in full swing and the girl Clara - alone among many adults - wants nothing more than a big brother. Her godfather, the tinkerer and inventor Drosselmeier, gives her a big wooden nutcracker. After an exciting and beautiful Christmas Eve, Clara sinks into a magical dream world.
In Antoine Jully's choreography for his BallettCompagnie Oldenburg, you can expect a fantastic mixture of danced accuracy, concentrated energy and a good dose of humor, spiced up with a pinch of horror and magic.
