“The Perfect Deception” is based on the incredible but true story of Ceslaw Jan Bojarski, a Polish-French engineer who became one of Europe’s most brilliant counterfeiters in the 1950s and 1960s.

Set in postwar France, Reda Kateb plays the Polish refugee Jan Bojarski, who becomes the most ingenious counterfeiter of his era. In his backyard, he produces nearly perfect banknotes over the course of more than a decade and a half—so convincing that even the Banque de France cannot distinguish them from the originals.​​ But the flood of counterfeit money brings Inspector Mattei (Bastien Bouillon) onto the scene, whose relentless pursuit of the unknown master counterfeiter leads to a nerve-wracking game of cat and mouse, in which Bojarski takes ever-greater risks—until his entire existence is on the line.
