Der Räuber Hotzenplotz

For their grandmother's birthday, Kasperl and Seppel give her a coffee grinder that plays a song. When they go to get whipped cream for the cake, the robber Hotzenplotz attacks the poor grandmother and robs her of the coffee grinder. Kasperl and Seppel manage to find the robber's den in the dark forest, but Hotzenplotz takes them both into his power. He keeps Kasperl as his servant and sells Seppel to the great and evil magician Petrosilius Zwackelmann. However, the two boys have swapped hats beforehand, so Kasperl is Seppel and vice versa. Clever Kasperl manages to outwit the magician; and with the help of the fairy Amaryllis, who frees Kasperl from her dungeon, Zwackelmann and Hotzenplotz can be rendered harmless. So at the end of the play, there is plum cake with whipped cream at Grandma's - with coffee from the musical coffee grinder.
