In 2021, the great French filmmaker Bertrand Tavernier passed away at the age of 79. We pay tribute to him with his first feature-length film and one of his best-known films, which won the Silver Bear at the 1974 Berlinale.
Michel Descombes works as a watchmaker in the St. Paul district of Lyon. Surprisingly, the police accuse his son of murder. Michel can hardly believe it. The more the police find out about the crime, the more the watchmaker realizes that he knows very little about his son. What's more, the press and the police try to manipulate him into leading them straight to his son.
