DEZAIN CRUSH Deutsch-japanische Designausstellung

On the weekend of Japan Day Düsseldorf/NRW 2024, the Japanese-German design exchange DEZAIN CRUSH will celebrate its premiere and preview in Düsseldorf: From June 2 to June 16, 2024, DEZAIN CRUSH will present the work of four renowned graphic designers and artists from Düsseldorf and Tokyo for two weeks at TOYKIO on Immermannstraße 18. The pop-up exhibition is the prologue to the DEZAIN CRUSH Festival 2025, which focuses on German and Japanese graphic design & illustration and aims to deepen the exchange between the two countries with an international network meeting. The opening of the pop-up exhibition will take place on June 2, 2024 from 3 to 7 pm.

In addition to Takumi Ogata and Studio Gruppo Due from Düsseldorf and other cities, Yu Miyama and Yui Takada from Tokyo will be showing their work at TOYKIO in the Japanese quarter. The two Japanese designers were specifically selected by the organizers and invited to Düsseldorf. Both will be there in person. The pop-up exhibition will be complemented by a selection of Japanese Be@arbrick sculptures from the collection of collector Selim Varol, which were last shown in the exhibition WONDERWALLS. ART & TOYS exhibition at the NRW-Forum.

LIMITED T-SHIRT DROP
Parallel to the pop-up exhibition, a T-shirt limited to 150 pieces will be launched, designed jointly by Gruppo Due from Germany and Yui Takada from Japan. The designers each had the task of interpreting the "Dezain Crush" heart in their own style. Their work comes together on a joint T-shirt. The T-shirt will be launched on May 31, 2024, one day before the Japan Day Düsseldorf/NRW, in a private release event at the Tourist Information of Visit Düsseldorf and will then be available at TOYKIO from June 2, 2024 at a price of 35 euros.

The German-Japanese design concept was created by Düsseldorf-based Lilly Friedeberg (designer, illustrator and co-founder of Design Studio B.O.B.), Kiyo Matsumoto (designer, owner of letterpress printing company Letterpress 77) and Alexandros Michalakopoulos (graduate designer & founder of design agency Morphoria).
