DI-RECT

In the organizer's words:

The big question is, of course, whether a band with the history of DI-RECT still needs an introduction. After 23 years, it's safe to assume that you've somehow gotten to know the Hague rockers. A discography to admire and a track record of shows to be impressed by if you're an enthusiast. With the latest icing on the cake: our own shows at the completely sold-out Ahoy. Not to mention the tours and shows at countless festivals and events. In short, you can't ignore DI-RECT. The special time of lockdowns has, if possible, strengthened the mutual bonds within DI-RECT even more. Friends have become family and the already boundless trust in each other continues to grow. Which leads to new music. With even more musicality in addition to the well-known input from Marcel Veenendaal, Spike van Zoest, Bas van Wageningen, Jamie Westland and Paul Jan Bakker. Thanks, for example, to keyboardist Matteo Iannella, but also to the now familiar brass section, which rounds off the musical picture.

That new music is appreciated. And in fact that is an understatement. Soldier On became a pillar in the band's recent repertoire and the beautiful Wild Hearts album went gold in no time. "Through The Looking Glass" was the most played song on Dutch radio in 2022, as was the follow-up "90's Kid", a musical smash hit. With these new resources in their luggage, it was a turbulent festival summer for DI-RECT. From Paaspop to Concert at SEA and from Parkpop to Zwarte Cross, the band had it all every weekend. Without evidence and with a healthy dose of nonchalance, DI-RECT looks to the future. After a couple of packed summers full of wonderful festivals, we will soon have our own third show at Ahoy in December. Because traditions are there to be honored, and this time with none other than the Residentie Orchestra as a special guest. With whom you can enjoy a sold-out tour in February as the ultimate warm-up.

We can also expect new music from the band in 2023. With "How My Heart Was Won" as the first success in January. The men will then embark on a tour and a performance on the famous Pinkpop main stage on Sunday, June 18, working towards a new summer full of wonderful festivals. With the 25th anniversary on the agenda in 2025, we can only expect more great things to come. From the men from Hofstad, who will always be boys.
