In the organizer's words:
Fred and Adam don't know each other. She lost her job as a teacher; he is a juvenile offender. He faces the choice of serving a prison sentence or walking the Camino de Santiago to Santiago de Compostela. A volunteer organization brings them together, and so they set out on the journey together.
