The cult film "The Color of Pomegranate" by Armenian director Sergei Parajanov from 1969 is an unusual film biography about the Armenian lyricist and singer Sayat Nova.
It consists of eight chapters, which depict the decisive stages of his life - growing up surrounded by books, his first love or his time at the court of King Herod II - with the help of strongly surrealistic, lovingly ironic tableaux.
The film will be shown in its original language, Armenian, with German subtitles - but little is spoken, the focus is on visual expression.
The film is one of the central artistic inspirations of the current exhibition "Forms of Love" by Pele's duo at St. Matthew's Church.
