At the end of the anniversary year "50 years of city partnership Leipzig - Brno 2023"
"Herzzeit" illuminates the relationship between the poets Ingeborg Bachmann and Paul Celan in vivid depth. At a time marked by the shadows of the Nazi regime, they found each other in Vienna. The Second World War traumatized both of them: Bachmann's father was an officer in the Austrian army, while Celan's parents died in a concentration camp - he himself only narrowly escaped a mass transport. Despite their contrasting backgrounds, they have one thing in common: their special relationship with language, which they demonstrate both in their personal correspondence and in their works. Through the art of the word, they can find and lose each other, hurt and heal. Their correspondence reveals a wide range of emotions from hope and despair, love and friendship, distance and closeness. At the same time, they reveal their inner turmoil, which exists between the fantasies of their longings and the sober reality.
The performance highlights letters, poems and texts by both literary greats that represent their world of thoughts and feelings. "Die Herzzeit" thus brings the unique dialog between the important poets to the stage. An intimate insight that offers the audience the opportunity to experience the complexity of their relationship in a moving production.
More Bachmann correspondences with Max Frisch will be available from November 9, 2023 in the current cinema drama "INGEBORG BACHMANN - REISE IN DIE WÜSTE" and on November 30 by Verena Noll and Thomas Dehler in the production "ICH BIN LEIDER FURCHTBAR. BUT YOU LOVE ME".
