What happens when youthful idealism meets the reality of midlife? "Die Insurgentinnen" tells the story of three women who decide that it's never too late for revolution - and found a clandestine cell between everyday life and retirement planning.
What were we actually burning for in our twenties? Where has the idealism gone? And what the hell is stopping us from realizing our dreams now, a few decades later? With a time delay, so to speak?
Insurgents Andrea, Jasmin and Iris ask themselves precisely these questions. Their answer is radical: "Let's just do it!" Without further ado, they form a small revolutionary cell. Their tactical advantage is their total inconspicuousness. Who would suspect three middle- to late-aged women plus a frightened Joachim?
In a world in which everything seems too late anyway, the four conspirators suddenly allow themselves to do anything. They discover the freedoms of radical non-conformism and declare war on everyday life. The play is a black-humored reckoning with missed opportunities and a plea for a late departure.
