In the organizer's words:
A musical fairy tale for narrator and orchestra based on Hans Christian Andersen
Duration: 3/4 hour | no intermission | ages 6 and up
Whether Undine, Rusalka or Arielle, mermaids and mermen continue to enjoy a boom, especially in children's literature. The fascination with these creatures, who can move between worlds as half human and half animal, is unbroken. Many of us would also like to switch back and forth between reality and fairy tales. However, Hans Christian Andersen's mermaid can also tell us a thing or two about the fact that even the most beautiful water world can sometimes be quite boring if you don't have any playmates, and that without love it can even get quite cold there. She falls in love with a prince and puts herself in great danger in the process. A journey of adventure begins, which literally vanishes into thin air at the end.
After "Peter and the Wolf" and "The Carnival of the Animals", "The Little Mermaid" by Ákos Hoffmann is one of the most frequently performed orchestral pieces for children in the German-speaking world.
