Die Odyssee

After the Trojan War, King Odysseus wants to return to Ithaca to be with his wife Penelope and his son Telemachus. But the journey home proves far more difficult than expected, as Odysseus faces a long adventure full of dangers. Among other things, he must contend with the goddess Calypso, the Cyclops Polyphemus, and the sorceress Circe. Meanwhile, the goddess Athena travels to Odysseus’s homeland of Ithaca and urges Telemachus to set out in search of his father. So he goes to King Menelaus of Sparta, Odysseus’s comrade-in-arms from the Trojan War, and asks him for advice. A new film by *Oppenheimer* director Christopher Nolan, based on Homer’s epic, which has already been adapted for the screen several times, including in 1954 with Kirk Douglas and in 2024 with Ralph Fiennes in the title role.
