Jezebel and Darius Miller live in a luxury apartment in the heart of New York. However, the siblings are unlucky: after a serious fall, Jezebel sits in a kind of vegetative state in a wheelchair and has since been devotedly cared for by her brother. In addition, financial problems soon force Darius to devote more time to the family business, which is why Maryann Hall is hired to care for the sister.

The young nurse puts in a lot of effort and manages to meet Darius' high standards of care after only a short time. In addition, she exerts a positive influence on Jezebel with her unwavering positive attitude - the nurse suffers no further seizures and her health steadily improves. Until one day the patient regains consciousness for a moment and a terrible suspicion arises in Maryann: Is Darius Miller not the loving and devoted brother he claims to be after all?
