Radīf refers to the repertoire of classical Persian music, which is learned through years of immersion and internalization. This collection of melodies has been passed down orally for thousands of years. Its continuity and vitality have always depended on its transmission from one generation to the next.

The composer, performance artist and educator Elshan Ghasimi is the first person in many decades and the first female musician ever to reinterpret the Radīf in a large-scale project. Since 2022, she has been sharing her reinterpretations with an international audience worldwide; and on this day with the audience in the permanent exhibition Southwest Asia and North Africa at the Museum Fünf Kontinente in Munich.
