Group exhibition "The unlived side" in the Forderzimmer Berlin-Pankow

From July 4 to August 1, 2026, the Forderzimmer in Berlin-Pankow is showing the group exhibition "Die ungelebte Seite".

Photographic works by Arek Akki, Thomas Gerwers, Adina Harnischfeger, Freddy Langer, Maartje Martisan, Dr. Dirk Schlottmann, Marius van de Goor, Lara Wilde and Lilith Terra will be presented.

Curated by Lara Wilde and Lilith Terra, the exhibition is dedicated to those parts of the self that remain hidden: unlived possibilities, rejected decisions, repressed impulses and inner parallel designs.

From a psychoanalytical perspective, the "unlived side" describes parts of the personality that remain in the shadows - out of fear of rejection, shame or because they do not fit in with one's own ideal image. From a systemic perspective, the unlived side often appears as a tribute to origin, family and social expectations: Impulses are held back so as not to jeopardize belonging, loyalty or recognition.

The exhibition explores the fractures in biographies, the masks of everyday life and longings that are often only perceptible in the spaces in between. The works on display make visible what was not decided, not expressed or not lived - and yet remains effective.

"We are interested in complexity," say the curators. Each group exhibition in the Forderzimmer begins with an open invitation to explore a theme in depth. For Wilde and Terra, this process is also the starting point for their own photographic exploration. Over the course of several months, different artistic positions emerge, which are brought together in the joint exhibition.

"The unlived side" is the third group exhibition in the Forderzimmer and brings together photographic works that deal with the hidden, the repressed and the possible. The exhibition opens up a space for inner counter-designs, unspoken longings and those parallel selves that continue to work quietly in the background of our lives.

About the Forderzimmer

The Forderzimmer - a space for absolute matters is an independent project space in Berlin-Pankow. It makes artistic positions visible that provide new food for thought in a contemporary context and offers a platform for interdisciplinary, photographic and experimental formats in particular. As an open place for exchange, artistic research and joint processes, the Forderzimmer sees itself as a space in which themes are not only exhibited, but also further developed.
