The Losers

"Notausgang" by Die Verlierer offers a cutting musical flight forward. The Berlin band's second album, released on Mangel Records, proves to be the best gift of the year, despite the gloomy times. The five members have created a musical kaleidoscope that takes an introspective look in the mirror and an inventory of life in Berlin today in fourteen tracks.

The songs deal with personal themes such as powerlessness, searching, loneliness and excess, as well as gentrification and the creeping shift to the right in society. The title track "Notausgang" addresses the feeling of alienation in one's own country and the threat posed by the extreme right. Despite the serious topics, the band maintains their musical fidelity. They succeed in mixing post-punk and NDW, rawness and melody, timelessness and contemporary energy. One of the band's strengths is the variety of voices, which lends each song a special nuance and enables new discoveries with every listen. The album manages to transcend the emerging depression and take the listener with it. "Notausgang" is not just an observer of doom,
but an emotional emergency exit that shakes the listener awake and carries them away.

Socke

SOCKE from Heidelberg play punk in German, combining influences from Aussie Power Garage and the Bremen School.
Their lyrics oscillate between criticism of themselves, criticism of their own bubble and criticism of the CDU.
The four-piece is part of the self-managed cultural free space Autohaus Heidelberg. This community also recorded and produced the band's first EP "Schlechte Luft EP", which will be released in January 2025.
