Where to put the anger? The celebrated poet ("Proben von Stein und Licht") and novelist ("Wie hoch die Wasser steigen") Anja Kampmann tells the story of Hedda, an artist in the "Alkazar" on the Reeperbahn in the 1930s. When the new uniforms first appear sporadically in the audience, then become more and more numerous, things become dangerous for the girls in the variety show. "Die Wut ist ein heller Stern" (Hanser) is the story of female self-assertion in the patriarchal society of National Socialism. It is an absorbing book, historically grounded and at the same time highly topical.
