MUSIC THEATER
Theater am Goetheplatz
An opera in two acts
by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Text by Emanuel Schikaneder
In German with German and English surtitles
Musical direction: Sasha Yankevych
Stage direction: Marco Štorman
Tamino wants Pamina, Papageno his Papagena. And so they set off. They fight and sing, wrestle and love, take revenge and puzzle. But many things stand in their way: an evil snake, a chattering lady's duet, their own laziness, a starry-eyed queen and a dubious sovereign named Sarastro. But there are antidotes to all the dangers, riddles and imponderables: a magic flute, a glockenspiel, confidence, a thirst for adventure, a subtle tendency towards anarchy and, of course, the magic of music. Marco Štorman's new Bremen production elicits fresh sounds from this musical fairy tale and mystery, in which people between the ages of 9 and 99 can discover themselves and the world. A play that shows what theater can do: Demystifying illusions in order to create illusions at the same time. And one thing above all: great theater fun for everyone!
Presented by Bremen Zwei.
