Dirk Zöllner & Jörg Menge - Machandeltal

The creation of our graphic novel “MACHANDELTAL” was the result of a series of happy coincidences…. “MACHANDELTAL,” a song by singer-songwriter Harald Wandel, has become synonymous with a sunny day, a fulfilling encounter, a desirable state of being, or even a place of longing. On Dirk Zöllner’s 60th birthday, this place near Samtens on Rügen comes to mind, and the title for the planned comic series is born. “Alles auf Anfang” is the pilot episode of the graphic novel “MACHANDELTAL” and we travel with Bärbel and Sherman from the culture-deprived time of the pandemic back to the year 1976, where the two, together with their friend Taifun, found the legendary cult band SB62.

Musician and author Dirk Zöllner and painter and graphic artist Jörg Menge present “Alles auf Anfang,” the pilot episode of the graphic novel “MACHANDELTAL.” The comic explores recent German history—in an entertaining way and without any political bias.  The distinctive main characters examine socially relevant situations from their individual perspectives simultaneously. The story begins in the 1970s in East Berlin with the founding of the band SB62. A new project featuring a cross-media integration of text, images, and music.
