distraction4ever + Morrow

"Forever Distracted"—perhaps the perfect band name for our world, shaped by social media and the horrors of the present. But distraction4ever are heading in exactly the opposite direction: the Montreal-based duo embraces a synth-heavy post-punk sound that’s equally reminiscent of Russian New Wave and the early days of the Neue Deutsche Welle in the early 1980s. morrow is a singer and producer from Leipzig. He makes music based on whim, not genre conventions. Whether it’s Neue Deutsche Welle, breakbeat, DnB, or a hint of country in the background: in the end, you should always hear just one thing—morrow. His songs are small-scale explorations of emotion and thought: about what moves us, about gut feelings and indecision, about climbing over fences—both literally and metaphorically. Emotional, slightly philosophical, but never overly intellectual. More like a late-night conversation when the city glows blue and the old Yamaha speakers are slightly overdriven. Live, it’s less of a concert and more of a shared moment where the bass flows through everyone’s bodies and, for a few minutes, everything becomes clear.
