After four acclaimed records on the Berlin label Anette Records, Sebastian Birkl alias DOT is now releasing his latest project: "Tales from Erygow" is a concept album from the field of climate fiction that once again blurs the boundaries of his musical origins and creates a new sound aesthetic. Together with international artists, the musician and sampling artist has succeeded in creating an album that seems to defy conventional categorization: synth jazz meets a dystopian scifi narrative; a total work of art! Producer, musician and sampling artist. Sebastian Birkl alias DOT certainly has his roots in the hip-hop scene, although his musical excursions like to blur the boundaries of instrumental genres. He skillfully combines jazz chords, krautrock guitars and synthesizer pads with detailed compositions, crashing drums or gentle strings. And always with him: the search for something new. He is regarded as a busy producer and string-puller behind numerous projects of all kinds and has already released several albums on the Berlin label Anette Records, the various editions of which quickly sold out. After extensive tours through Europe in various groups, DOT has made a name for himself as a solo artist, coming from sampling and now venturing into a new field via electronica and jazz. Since 2022, DOT has been working on the "Tales from Erygow" project in collaboration with Munich jazz trumpeter Matthias Lindermayr and other international artists. A concept album that further blurs the boundaries of its musical origins and creates a new sound aesthetic: synth jazz meets a dystopian scifi narrative. The album was released digitally and on vinyl in January 2024 via Anette Records and was praised in media such as Bayerischer Rundfunk and Süddeutsche Zeitung.
