On May 24, the banks of the Main in Frankfurt at Theodor-Stern-Kai will once again be transformed into a colorful festival mile: The 2nd "Hong Qi Cup" Dragon Boat Festival invites you to a day full of excitement, culture and enjoyment. Visitors can expect a varied program with sporting competitions, cultural highlights and culinary discoveries from Asia. The festival opens at 08:30 with a drum dance and the ceremony of opening the eyes of the dragon's head.
A competition with tradition
The centerpiece of the festival is the traditional dragon boat race. From 09:30, various teams compete against each other on the Main - accompanied by the rhythmic beat of drums and enthusiastic cheers. After a lunch break with a show program, another thrilling race follows in the afternoon at 13:30. The award ceremony will then take place at 19:00.
Cultural diversity and culinary delights
The festival also brings Southeast Asian flair to Frankfurt: stalls from China, Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia offer tropical delicacies and an exotic ambience. A creative market with handmade products and Asian-inspired offerings invites you to browse and linger.
A feast for all the senses
Exciting performances will take place on the music stage during the opening, break and closing ceremonies - including performances from China, Muay Thai demonstrations and other cultural program items. The Dragon Boat Festival is therefore not just a sporting event, but a festival for all ages that brings the cultures of Asia to life in a special way.
