In the organizer's words:
By Anton Chekhov
Olga, Masha and Irina feel left behind by life. The three sisters have been living in the provinces for years, dreaming of the hustle and bustle of the big city. Their hope is that their brother Andrei will use his talents, make a career for himself and open up a way into the world for them all. But he marries Natasha, who quickly takes over the running of the house and embarks on a mediocre administrative career. Masha, unhappily married, falls equally unhappily in love with Vershinin, who does not want to leave his sick wife. Olga remains single and becomes a principal. Irina dreams of a meaningful life and work; her relationship with officer Tusenbach is not granted a long future. But the sisters do not lose hope and their love of life.
As a doctor and writer, Anton Chekhov had deep insights into the human condition. He portrayed his characters with great warmth and saw his plays as comedies despite their tragedy. Created and set in late 19th century Russia, they repeatedly demonstrate their contemporary relevance. In-house director Ebru Tartıcı Borchers and her team tell a great family story in poetic images and atmospheres.
