Dresden findet Weiterstadt 2026

Open-Air Short Film Cinema – Small Hall and Courtyard:

Since 1977, one of Germany’s most unusual film festivals has been taking place at the Braunshardter Tännchen, a small wooded area on the outskirts of Weiterstadt. Every year, thousands of people gather in a clearing in the woods to watch short films—with no genre restrictions, no red carpet, but with a big screen, beer benches, and a remarkable openness to everything cinema can be. This year, the Weiterstadt Open-Air Film Festival is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

We’re bringing the Weiterstadt “Nachlese” back to Dresden and transforming the courtyard of the Zentralwerk into an open-air short film cinema for one evening. Starting at 8:45 p.m., you can watch a selection of the films that particularly impressed us.
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll move to the Henny-Brenner-Saal—the program will remain unchanged.

For children, teens, and families, the evening begins at 5:00 p.m. in the Kleiner Saal with an animated film program presented by Fantasia e.V.—featuring the latest works by the filmmakers of tomorrow.
