Over the course of many years and an intensive creative process, Toronto-based Luge have blended the best elements of noise rock, pop, metal, funk, and numerous other genres into their own unique, multi-layered sound. Topping it all off are their highly idiosyncratic yet equally captivating lyrics.

Together, Luge navigate a profound misunderstanding: Each member—pleasantly ordinary—provides the context for the others, until even that context itself requires “translation.”

Luge’s latest project is titled “make miarklez irlz.” It comprises twelve songs arranged in various configurations across two EPs, with the usual track numbering system set aside: “make” contains the odd-numbered tracks, and “irlz” the even-numbered ones. All songs are composed in such a way that they can seamlessly combine into the album “Miarklez” in any possible configuration. “make miarklez irlz” is a total work of art that, depending on one’s musical background, brings to mind Deerhof, Les Savy Fav, Lightning Bolt—and yes, even—Atom & His Package.

Torsten Lang—musician, songwriter, producer, visual artist, and the well-known creative mind behind Distilled&Bottled and experimental avant-garde projects such as Asthma Choir, Newmaker, Excessive Visage, and Grimény—explores the boundaries of simplicity in his current solo project. By stripping the music down to vocals and acoustic guitar, he transforms melancholic nightmares into dark and haunting songs.
