​the idea is simple. show up, grab a drink, sit across from a stranger, and play. some of the best conversations happen over a chess board.

​you don't need to be good. you just need to be here. never played? perfect. all levels welcome. we'll match you with someone at your level.

​alte utting has a full menu with food, cocktails, and coffee.

​we bring the chess boards and handle everything. plus a few backgammon boards if you want to mix it up.​

we use the checkmateIRL app for matching you with players on your level if desired, and as chess clock, download it before you come.

heads up: we'll be taking photos and videos during the event for social media.
