Dunkelkammer-Workshop: Analoge Filmentwicklung

In the organizer's words:

How does an exposed film become a visible image? In this workshop, participants will learn the basics of analog black-and-white film development. Together, we’ll develop the films we’ve brought with us and gain an understanding of how photographic images are created long before a finished print is available.

Step by step, we’ll reveal what’s already stored on the film but remains hidden at first. After development, we’ll have negatives, which form the basis for all further steps in the photographic process. Next, we’ll make contact prints by exposing the negatives directly onto photo paper. In the process, we’ll experiment with different exposure times and light intensities and learn the basic procedures in the darkroom.

The workshop offers a hands-on introduction to analog photography and teaches the basics of working in a darkroom. At the same time, it provides an opportunity to experience a slower-paced photographic process in which materials, time, and craftsmanship play a central role.

Please bring:A roll of black-and-white film that has been shot but not yet developed (e.g., from a black-and-white disposable camera or an analog camera).

For adults ages 18 and older. No prior experience is required.
