The telephone, radio, the Charleston, cinema, and the bob cut: The Weimar Republic was an era of technological innovations, alternative lifestyles, and cultural experiments. Artists developed new forms of expression in fashion, theater, and photography. But it was also a time of immense hardship: Economic crises and hyperinflation meant financial hardship for many, and war veterans and the unemployed were a common sight on the streets. National Socialism grew from a fringe party to the strongest faction in the Reichstag. At the same time, activist groups fought for feminism and against fascism.

In joint guided tours, docents from the Lenbachhaus and the NS Documentation Center shed light on the exhibition from artistic and historical perspectives and invite visitors to join the conversation.
