Versatility has always been a high priority for the Leipzig-based prog band DARK SUNS, which quickly becomes clear when immersing yourself in their 6 studio albums to date. Their music is characterized by complex rhythms, atmospheric arrangements and a colourful mix of different musical influences, including psychedelic and progressive elements. The soul pendulum swings between atmospheric sound experiments and structured heaviness, merging fragile depths with psychedelic trance, while rocking avant-garde set pieces and hypnotic hooklines complete the spectrum.

The Munich-based instrumental band 7FOR4 was founded in 1999 by guitarist Wolfgang Zenk and has released four albums since then. The three musicians don't let anything stop them: Whether funk, jazz, metal or country - they combine the best elements from the most diverse styles to create unusual but coherent compositions and play their music with impressive dexterity. Catchy melodies and spherical sounds alternate with powerful passages, surprising the listener time and again with complex rhythms and enchanting with virtuoso playing and solos.

Video "Maximum Warp. Mr. Sulu"

The prog triple is completed by the Regensburg quintet KALI, who have just released their concept album "Samsara". The dualistic basic idea behind their namesake is clearly reflected in the adept crafting of their songs. In their excellent compositions, the six artists do not take the most direct route, but rather focus on profound concepts, Phrygian minor sounds and genre-specific polyrhythms, without losing sight of the power of melody. Light and dark, force and sphere, complexity and authenticity interweave to form a haunting web that envelops the receptors in a kaleidoscopic cocoon.
