Almost exactly 100 years ago, popsicles were patented for the first time in America. At the same time, the first Italian ice cream parlors opened in Europe. Gastrosopher Dr. Peter Peter traces the history of the origins of ice cream and its spread with a wealth of knowledge and amusing anecdotes in the refreshing little book "Gelato - Italienische Eiszeiten", published by Klaus Wagenbach in February 2026.

For the reading and discussion, the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung is presenting the ice cream stick from its collection, which the artist Felicitas Fäßler (*1989) created from molded glass in 2017.

For families, the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung is also offering a special guided tour with ice cream tasting at 760°C on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 2 pm, where stories about ice cream and art made of glass can be discovered in a playful way. Tickets can be purchased for EUR 5 or EUR 3 reduced on our website.
