Electronic Textile Lab - Einstieg in Wearable Technology

Smart clothing, luminous fabrics, textiles that react to touch - electronic textiles open up completely new possibilities in design.

This workshop will give you an initial, practical insight into this world. Using speculative design, you will experiment with LEDs and vibration motors, learn how to integrate electronics into fabric and sew your first glowing or vibrating textile object to take home.

What can you expect on the evening?

1. introduction to the topic of electronic textiles

2. presentation of electronic components as well as conductive fabrics and yarns, teaching of handicraft techniques

3. concept and realization of your own luminous or vibrating e-textile project.

Come to the lab and experience what is possible with a needle, thread and a bit of electricity.

What should you bring?

No prior knowledge of electronics or programming required - just curiosity and basic knowledge of how to use a needle and thread.

What material is provided?

The workshop price includes all materials, such as sew-on LEDs, battery holders, vibration motors, conductive yarns and fabrics, carrier materials. The necessary tools are available on site.

If you wish, you can bring your own textiles or items of clothing, such as gloves or hats, for processing.
