A passionate affair ensues. But it soon transpires that Elise is not in love with the Wittelsbach regent, but with his
but with his winged adjutant, Paul von Thurn und Taxis, who looks remarkably like him. This risky love affair is just the beginning of turbulent entanglements for Elise and Paul.
