Emma Rawicz: Inkyra

“Inkyra” is the spectacular new project by Emma Rawicz, who is just 23 years old and ranks among the most exciting artists in British jazz today. As a synesthete, the musician—who grew up in rural Devon—sees colors when she writes and composes music. What began in a composition seminar at the Royal Academy of Music in London and continued on her debut album “Chroma” can now be experienced on stage at Enjoy Jazz. The tenor saxophonist spent four years working on her album alongside her outstanding sextet, which brings together some of the most exciting young stars in British jazz today. She says: “Joni Mitchell has these little vignettes in her lyrics that allow her to create an entire world in just a few words.
