ENDEA OWENS & THE COOKOUT *live

With her funky double bass style, Detroit-born bassist, composer and bandleader Endea Owens is undoubtedly one of the most promising young jazz talents. Her debut album "Feel Good Music", which she recorded with her band The Cookout, was released in fall 2023. The album is a universe of soulful melodies and rhythmic dynamics that is audibly rooted in the jazz of the swinging sixties and seventies, but goes far beyond that. We recommend listening to the Tiny Desk Performance on NPR, an uplifting blend of jazz, gospel and neo-soul energy.

Endea Owens can already look back on an impressive career. A graduate of the prestigious Juilliard School and under the tutelage of greats such as Marcus Belgrave, Rodney Whitaker and Ron Carter, she has cautiously played her way into the spotlight. She has worked with artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Jennifer Holliday, Diana Ross and Solange and is a member of the house band of "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert". And although she is only at the beginning of her great career, she already has an Emmy, a Grammy and a George Foster Peabody Award on her mantelpiece.
