Eröffnung: Counterplay

In *Counterplay*, Alicja Rogalska presents a new body of work that builds on her long-standing collaboration with Berlin-based bicycle couriers and her ongoing research into visions of the future and working conditions. The exhibition evolved from a project that began in 2024 with *Terms and Conditions* at n.b.k. —a two-channel video installation in which bicycle couriers discuss the systemic exploitation they face, as well as desired improvements to their working conditions and to the economy and society more broadly.

In her new work, Alicja Rogalska expands this investigation of working conditions within platform-based economies by inviting the couriers to become agents of radical imagination: They not only question and reject the status quo but also speculate—drawing on their own experiences—about alternative economic systems.

The exhibition is accompanied by a public program that brings together economic anthropologists, workers, science fiction experts, and visitors to collaboratively develop a game through which speculative economic forms can be discussed, tested, and designed. In an era of increasing gamification of both platform capitalism and everyday life, it seems necessary not only to rethink the rules of the game but also to invent new games.
