Hamburger Bahnhof invites you to the opening of "Saâdane Afif. Five Preludes".

The exhibition provides an insight into the work of the interdisciplinary artist, who has been living in the city since 2003, and includes the multi-part work "The Fountain Archives". The artistic archive project is dedicated to one of the most prominent chapters in 20th century art history: the legendary readymade "Fountain" by Marcel Duchamp from 1917. Afif's installation came to the museum in 2023 as a generous donation from Paul Maenz. The exhibition shows it with other works that question the institution of the art museum and the principle of authorship in a profound and subtly humorous way.
