Estefanía Porqueras: Tap-Lab: A-Cos.o

TAP AHEAD

For seven days, our artist in residence this year, Estefanía Porqueras, explores a possible movement language based on tap dance that can be read as a response to the physical and emotional oppression of the individual in her first research for A-Cos.o. By using micro-cameras attached to the dancing body, whose images will be projected live, she plans to expand the audience's perspective.
Estefanía Porqueras is a tap dancer, choreographer, teacher and curator from Barcelona. With her work, she continuously promotes the artistic development of tap dance and advocates the networking of tap with other and new dance forms. She is the artistic director of the dance company UNUM Project. Porqueras dances as the protagonist of CAMUT BAND, one of the most renowned international tap dance groups, and is the curator of the tap dance program at the alternative theater Golem'S in Barcelona. Since 2012 she has been teaching regularly at the Escola Luthier, one of the leading centers for tap dance in Barcelona.
At the moment, there are hardly any opportunities for tap dance artists to sketch out initial ideas and possible structures for further work. With the Tap Lab, we would like to contribute to the promotion and thus to the strengthening and securing of the future of current tap dance culture.
