In the organizer's words:

As part of Europe May, the European cultural institutes in Munich are continuing their "European Film Classics" series with masterpieces from the 1980s. While the Cold War and the communist regimes were unknowingly coming to an abrupt end, European integration was gaining strength. At the same time, high inflation and the rise in the unemployment rate as a result of the oil crises also partly favored the return of conservative politics and a questioning of some of the social achievements of the previous decade.

Which films were shown in European cinemas during this period? How did they reflect the unrest and transformations of a decade that hovered between democratic hope and disillusionment? On the program:
