Theater as an experiment in space and time: invisible and simultaneously visible bodies in beds. An astonishing play with reality and unreality.

An empty hospital bed stands on the stage. A door protrudes into the almost empty space. Strange things happen. Will the door ever open, is someone lying in the bed without being seen? Obviously nothing happens, but the atmosphere in the room is constantly changing. The bed stirs, it rises and falls. It tilts as if following the weight of someone moving in it. A voice intervenes and describes the state of an invisible body. Its position, its movements, its breathing. There is tension in the air, driven by curiosity. Something is constantly happening. The theater arrangement developed by author and director Jeong Seyoung in South Korea, which is as exciting as it is cheerful, is based on direct experiences from a social environment in which medical institutions, care, control and social order are closely interwoven. Seyoung's works are always based on familiar everyday situations and discover the spectacularly unseen behind the ordinary. And as the title "Except that you can't see me" promises, there is a form of theater to be experienced that consciously plays with the forms of theater. With what is visible, with what is told, what is remembered and, above all, with what imagination the audience develops. It is an invitation to all audience members to test their own perception, to check their attention and to experience imagination as the quintessence of theater. In his extraordinary works, the multi-talented Seyoung plays on the entire keyboard of theater, from scenography to choreography to light - his productions deliberately surprise by breaking through familiar viewing habits.
