Oskar Schell is an inventor, jewelry designer, pacifist, percussionist, amateur astronomer and origami artist, as well as a collector of butterflies that died of natural causes, Beatles memorabilia, mini cacti and other things. Oskar Schell lives in New York, is 9 years old and tragically lost his father in the attacks on the World Trade Center. All Oskar has left is an answering machine with his father's last messages and a mysterious key. Determined to solve his father's last riddle, Oskar sets off on a journey through New York with his tambourine. This journey leads him to many extraordinary people and involves him in adventurous situations.

Jonathan Safran Foer's novel poses a deeply human question: how can we come to terms with the senseless loss of a loved one without losing our faith in life? Oskar Schell, now an adult, takes the audience on his unique journey in an immersive theatrical performance.
