An EYPA concert is more than just music. Being together, being part of something bigger, that's what the Arabic word كون ("Kun"), which adorns EYPA as an epithet, stands for. كون means "being" and symbolizes what the Arabic-German duo wants to achieve with their music: Being in the here and now.

In their music, Eyad Ghannam (e-oud - an Arabic short-necked lute) and Paul-Aaron Wolf (drums, synthesizer) combine different cultural and musical influences to create a unified electro-acoustic sound. As a transcultural project, EYPA attempts to break down the categorical separation between two cultures and create a new world. EYPA's music contains elements of electronic dance, ambient, electro and downtempo. Synthesizers and e-oud create a rich texture of warm colors, while drums and percussion provide a captivating vibe and infectious groove.

Eyad and Paul met while studying at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg in 2021 and realized at their first jam session that together they were creating a type of music that is novel and special. When they play live, the two friends connect with their instruments in pure authenticity and even transfer the energy created between them to the audience. In this way, they create moments of connection and unity for themselves and their listeners.

The Silver Threads

With "The Silver Threads", the three musicians Beyza, Berna and Lea create a unique fabric of sound that connects cultures, traditions and voices. With instruments such as kanun, oud, baglama and guitar as well as their multi-layered vocals, they interweave poetic folk with traditional sounds from Spain, Turkey, Iran, Europe and the USA. What began as a happy coincidence grew into a shared desire: to create a multicultural, women-centered space in which music serves as a unifying element.
