Familienkonzert № 1 »Die kleine Meerjungfrau«
In the organizer's words:
World Children's Day Event
Based on the famous fairy tale “The Little Mermaid” by Hans Christian Andersen, the Jena Philharmonic brings an underwater world to life with shimmering sounds. Under the baton of Yudania Gómez Heredia, Ákos Hoffmann’s music unfolds as a vibrant sonic adventure. The orchestra gives each character its own musical voice: The little mermaid comes to life through the delicate, dancing character of the flute, while the wise grandmother takes shape in the warm, narrative sound of the bassoon. When the sea witch’s dark, rumbling bass clarinet rises menacingly, the musical journey through sparkling coral reefs and menacing ocean depths becomes intensely palpable. Amid these waves of sound, the mermaid dreams of the mysterious human world and of true love. But happiness requires courage and comes at a price … Beate Bachmann guides the audience through the fairy tale as the narrator, while the orchestra alternates between delicate, mysterious passages and dramatic waves of sound. A concert for the whole family—moving, exciting, and full of musical magic!
