On a stormy night, a mysterious egg crashes through the window of an old New York apartment building. Young Charlotte discovers a strange little spider crawling out of it. The rebellious girl feels abandoned by her family - and finds a comforting friend in the remarkably adaptive eight-legged creature, which she affectionately christens Sting. But the more Charlotte's fascination with Sting grows, the faster the creepy-crawly gets bigger. Soon his thirst for fresh blood no longer stops at cockroaches. The setting is perfect for the morbid spider fun, which has its titular monster chasing through the dimly lit air ducts and garbage chutes of the dilapidated building.
An homage to Jack Arnold and 1950s trash sci-fi cinema, with special effects by the renowned Weta Workshop, directed by genre connoisseur Kiah Roache-Turner (WYRMWOOD).
