Brass music detached from expectations. The seven-piece brass band combines local folk music traditions and world music elements with their love of experimentation.

We. We begins with two. One family, one band. One nation and the whole planet. For the musicians of Federspiel, however, we is more than a simple count. We encompasses the knowledge and ideas of all generations before us. We here and now are only the youngest in an infinite series of annual rings, each of which has its own story to tell.

And that brings us to the present. For the seven musicians, this means the right commitment, the right timing and the magic of the moment of each performance. Because this narrow strip between past and future is the only leeway we have. Us as artists, as people, as humanity. We are only in the now. Only in the now can we act, move things and people.

These ideas have inspired Federspiel's new program: Wir und Jetzt sets the big questions of our time to music. It is an appeal to tackle the pressing problems of our planet together and right now. But Wir und Jetzt also promises to stop time with music at the moment of the concert and to create a connection with the audience that touches and ideally changes everyone.

After more than two decades, the means of the mixed wind section have blossomed: Inclusion instead of demonstration, light-footed virtuosity instead of flaunted acrobatics. They eschew pompous posturing in favor of thought-provoking and touching compositions. That is what characterizes Federspiel. And that is exactly what Wir und Jetzt is.
