FEMALE MAKER CLUB:circular futures
In the organizer's words:
Now that we’ve launched the FEMALE MAKER CHALLENGE:circular futures 2025 for the first time, we want to offer a regular event series for female makers and aspiring and established female founders working in the field of circular everyday products and circular business models. Are you passionate about physical everyday products and circular business models that go the extra mile—ones that make an ecological, social, or economic impact? The focus is on circular product design: durable materials, repairable products, and recyclable concepts such as sustainable furniture, reusable packaging, upcycled products, smart household gadgets, resource-efficient mobility solutions, and innovative textiles.
Then this session is the right fit for you! Our goal is to raise the visibility of female makers from all walks of life, support them with expertise, and help them network with one another.
From 3:00–5:00 p.m., the MakerLab and its machines serve as a safe space for women who want to use the lab’s machines for free, with or without guidance. At 5:00 p.m., we’ll start with a keynote talk followed by a discussion session. You can sign up for both sessions or just one of them
Schedule:
- 3:00–5:00 p.m. Hands-on work with the machines of your choice at the MakerLab
- 5:00–6:30 p.m. Keynote talk and discussion session
This time featuring Lea Schilling from AGA.PIE.
Lea is the founder and CEO of AGA.PIE, a Hamburg-based brand for bedding made from bamboo Lyocell. With a background in fashion and textile design as well as content marketing, she has built AGA.PIE from concept to market-ready product. In her keynote talk, she’ll discuss what many people don’t talk about: what a circular business model looks like when production is based in China, and why that doesn’t have to be a contradiction.
About AGA.PIE:
AGA.PIE produces bedding made from bamboo Lyocell, a material manufactured using a closed-loop process. Production scraps are recycled back into the loop as packaging material and upcycled products. The brand demonstrates what a circular economy looks like in practice at a small business, complete with all the compromises that a real-world supply chain entails.
- This is going to be exciting! We look forward to seeing you there!
