For an entire week, the Konzerthaus is wide open to violinist Hilary Hahn: As Curating Artist, she has put her heads together with Dortmund's concert planners and designed a program tailored to her. Of course, she will be heard as a soloist with orchestra, in the violin concertos by Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn Bartholdy. Then there will be an evening devoted to her favorite instrument - the organ. She was so enthusiastic about our Joker format that she wanted to choose the surprise guest herself. And a chamber concert with the Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective and Music for Freaks with cellist Seth Parker-Woods are designed to be open so that Hilary Hahn and other festival participants can drop in and participate. The violinist sums up her Dortmund week, "It's gonna be a whirlwind!"
