Choral performance, welcome and party with LUVA (DJ set)
FESTIVAL OPENING the first day of the festival 5.30 pm ABOUT THE NEW - CHORIC PERFORMANCE 400 pupils from the Freie Waldorfschule Neckarau will transform the "Garden of the Arts" into a resonating space for the festival opening. Texts from science and poetry as well as sounds, created with voices, bodies and everyday objects, condense into a choral landscape between order and noise. After the ceremonial opening speech and the first brushstroke by Anik Lazar, the festival premiere "Die Zauberflöte" will follow. With: Jens Knoop (NTO), Marching Drum Festivalzentrum, "Garten der Künste" 6.00 - 6.30 p.m. WELCOME The Mannheim Summer 2026 begins - let yourselves be unbounded! Festivalzentrum, "Garten der Künste" 6.30 p.m. SLIME STUDIES - FIRST PINSELSTRICH Artist Anik Lazar opens her studio on the festival grounds and begins her largest painting from the SLIME STUDIES series to date on a canvas stretched across the OPAL building. Festival Center, "Garden of the Arts" 7.00 - 10.00 p.m. DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE - PREMIERE A grand opera in two acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart OPAL 8.30 - 9.15 p.m. Mozart. Schwarzenegger. Hitler. Music performance between megalomania, trash & populism Festival Center from 10.00 p.m. OPENING PARTY with LUVA (DJ set) Festival Center
