Together with the Iranian violinist Puria Kaini , the French bass-baritone and accordionist Jean-Baptiste Mouret presents an unusual song recital in duo format. "Ich ging mit Lust durch einen grünen Wald" is a tribute to folksong singing, refined by great composers such as Benjamin Britten, Gustav Mahler and Franz Schubert. Thanks to the unique instrumentation, the art of song singing can be experienced in a new way - free and communicative, narrative and deeply moving.
Among others, Benjamin Britten's exciting harmonizations of traditional folk songs - from Scottish warriors to the undead resting under apple trees - as well as Gustav Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn, which takes the listener on a journey with young people happily wandering through a green forest or saying goodbye to their beloved.
The G minor Sonata by the French Baroque composer François Francœur also provides a tonal change.
The program is rounded off with heartbreaking songs from Goethe's Wilhelm Meister and the dark masterpiece Der Doppelgänger by Franz Schubert.
